Nigeria Customs Service Board Confirms Appointment Of 5 DCGs, 8 ACGs

FIVE Deputy Comptrollers-General (DCGs) have been appointed and confirmed by the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB).

In the same vein, eight Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACGs) were confirmed. 

This development was part of issues deliberated at the Service’s 59th regular meeting held at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday,14 May 2024.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr Wale Edun,

In a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of Customs, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, he said, “The new appointments were made to fill the vacancies created by some senior officers who recently retired from the Service”, adding that the principles of federal character, seniority and merit guided the appointments approved by the Board.

The new DCGs, the statement revealed, are O. O. Peters, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (rtd); BM Jibo, Enforcement Inspection & Investigation; BU Nwafor, Excise, Free Trade Zone & Industrial Incentives; SA Bomai, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command) and CK Niangwa, Tariff & Trade. 

In the ACG category are B. I am,  ACG Board; AAS Oloyede, Trade & Tariff; SK Dangaldima, Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘B’ and A. Abdul Azeez, Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘D’.

Others are SA Yusuf, Human Resource Development; NP Umoh, Training and Doctrine Command; CO Obih, Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘C’ and S Chiroma, Strategic Research and Policy. 

These appointments are a testament to the officers’ exemplary services and dedication to the Nigeria Customs Service” Maiwada said, even as he stressed that the Board remained committed to providing strategic leadership to ensure effective and efficient service delivery for optimum performance.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, while thanking retired members of the management for their meritorious services, congratulated the newly confirmed officers and charged them to redouble their efforts to ensure that the Service attains greater heights in its mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation, among others.
