As Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on the Black Stars of Ghana in the second leg playoff for the Qatar 2022 World Cup tomorrow 29th January 2022, the Federal Government has declared a half-day for civil servants across the country.
A circular dated 28th March 2022, signed by Dr Ngozi Nwudiwe (Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office) on behave of the Head of Service of the Federation read in part:
“As you are aware, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be meeting the Black Stars of Ghana in continuation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff (return leg).
“There is a need to mobilise for the Nigerian team. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1 pm on Tuesday 29th March 2022.
“Permanent Secretaries to give this circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result” the circular titled “FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifier Between Nigeria and Ghana”, concluded.
