THE Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied media reports suggesting that there will be a national blackout in difference to the ongoing nationwide strike action called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Head of Public Affairs of TCN, Ndidi Mbah was yesterday quoted by some conventional and online medium as saying there will be a national blackout in solidarity with organised labour’s strike.
However, a statement signed by management of the organisation said the report was “misleading”.
“The statement is mischievous and baseless as TCN, through the Public Affairs Head, did not make such a statement.
“We hereby note that the nation’s grid is intact and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centres nationwide.
“As of when issuing this statement, the TCN National Control Centre Osogbo which controls bulk power transmission nationwide, is actively operational.
“We would appreciate that reports are made with a sense of responsibility not just to cause panic”.
