The Osun State PDP has denied allegations by the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) that a Department of State Service (DSS) officer was slapped, describing the opposition as “rudderless and in severe pain over its loss of power”.
The party said that rather than peddle rumours, it advise the APC to prevail on former governor Gboyega Oyetola to apologize and return all looted assets instead of looking for petty diversionary tactics.
A statement signed by Oladele Bamiji HOB,
Director of Media, Osun State PDP said its call is predicated on a kindergarten statement credited to the APC alluding credence to a rumour of the state governor’s elder sister assaulting a security operative.
“Such a statement with the seal of a supposed registered political party is pathetic to put it mildly. It is the lowest level anyone could descend to show unsophisticated frustration.
“While we are not unaware of the fact that APC leaders and members alike, as things stand in the state, are down and critically idle, nevertheless, we never thought they would degenerate to the point of trying to give life to beer parlour gossip.
“As such, we like to advise the party to endure its time in the desert with sensible anger, as the petty style adopted so far by APC handlers can only continue to reduce their electoral stock”.
The PDP further said that “It is worrisome to note that having consistently failed in governance as evident in the shambolic state it left Osun State, the APC is going about its opposition role in a similar manner. In a sane society, the APC should be apologizing to the Osun people for the ruins it wrought on the state, not the shameful lie expedition it is currently on.
“Osun people”, the PDP insists,” will not forget in a hurry how a thriving state was thrown into a generational debt, hence, the resort to distract the people with barefaced concoction on the security details around Governor Adeleke. In fact, it goes to reinforce the impression of the Osun people that the APC is an assemblage of people, whose only objective is to lie, loot and destroy the state.
“We like to emphasize that at no point did Governor Adeleke or any member of his family physically assault any security details attached to them. The truth, which can be easily verified by security personnel around him, is the kind hospitality and respect the governor and his family has accorded them.
“Only those with cheap mindset, as the Osun APC extensively demonstrated, will ever entertain the thought of a respected family as the Adeleke will abuse security operatives. We want to reiterate the position of the State Government that the alleged withdrawal of DSS personnel from Governor Adeleke has nothing to do with him or any member of his family, but a minor disagreement with the Police, which is being handled by the appropriate authorities.
“We call on Osun people to dismiss in its entirety, the insinuations of the APC as a clever plot to distract them from the questions of accountability posed to it by the Adeleke administration.
“Let us not forget who threw our state into indebtedness to the tune of N407 billion and still counting. Who mismanaged earnings from gold and other mineral assets; Who colluded with exploration conduit that polluted our waters and was responsible for the attendant diseases without a hoot of compensation.
“Who looted government properties across board; and still questioning our rights to choose our leader to halt their ignoble administration while they tried all fraudulent means to cut corners to subvert the will of the people”.
