The Management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has dedicated the club’s victory at the maiden NPFL/Doxy Mmobuosi Super Cup Tournament to the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde.
Speaking after the Oluyole Warriors’ 3-2 win over Enyimba FC of Aba, in a thrilling final match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, the Executive Chairman of the club, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, said the success was yet another conviction of the governor’s backing to the team.
“This is a glorious moment for us as a state and as a club. Oyo State is known as a pace-setting state and Shooting Stars a team with so many first achievements.
“As a management, we are delighted that the club has achieved another feat of becoming the first side to win this tournament and we are dedicating this victory to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who is the number one supporter of the club, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
“His unflinching support for the club in every aspect, has been marvellous and this is the reason why the team is getting better day by day”, said the excited 3SC boss.
He also expressed appreciation to the entire supporters and fans of the Ibadan soccer lords, in particular those who travelled to Lagos to cheer the team to victory, saying that their presence in the terraces served as the tonic that ignited the boys in the final match.
Akoro, as the 3SC helmsman is popularly called, hailed the players for displaying a fighting spirit in the tournament as a whole and the final in particular, even as he saluted coach Gbenga Ogunbote and the entire coaching crew for a job well done.
