SHOOTING Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan made it six straight wins without conceding a goal as they beat Nasarawa United of Lafia 2-0.
The midweek matchday 21 cracker played at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Wednesday, saw the determined Solid Miners succumb to the firepower of the Oluyole Warriors, thanks to a goal in each half by Tijani Kabir and Sadiq Ibrahim.
The homers, as expected, showed their readiness to carry the day from the blast of the whistle but had to wait till the 14th minute when an unmarked Tijani Kabir lashed onto Nonso Nzediegwu’s cross, to effortlessly slot the ball past Detan Ogundare in goal for the visitors.
Thereafter, and till the end of the first half, it became a well-contested battle as the coach Kabiru Dogo-tutored side fought back, but were well curtailed by the stars.
The tempo of the game rose in the second half, with the Solid Miners trying to level things up, but goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal once again showed sharp reflexes to complement the efforts of the defence.
Newcomer, Sadiq Ibrahim would later come off the bench to score the second goal, with another substitute and new recruit, Ekeson Okorie providing the assist, thereby marking his debut in the colours of 3SC with a goal and ultimately killed Nasarawa United’s hope of levelling up.
Shooting Stars came close to adding to their tally towards the closing minutes but were unluckily denied, thus ending the game 2-0.
With the sixth straight win, the Ibadan soccer lords have their points haul increased to 36 and will next travel to Jos for a matchday 22 fixture against Plateau United billed for this Sunday.
