EDO State governor, Godwin Obaseki has reportedly nominated Omobayo Godwin from Akoko Edo as the new Deputy Governor of state. This is sequel to the impeachment of the former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.
The state House of Assembly had earlier impeached Mr Shaibu after adopting the report of the seven-man panel set up to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct against him.
It would be recalled that Mr Shaibu has been having a running battle with Governor Obaseki over who succeeds him.
The face-off between Obaseki and Shaibu boiled over following the decision of the latter to challenge the return of Asue Ighodalo, the choice of Mr Obaseki, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election in the state.
