A 19-year-old boy, who allegedly connived with one Asumo (currently at large) to burgle the palace of Olu of Araromi-Alade in Ijoko, Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Area of Ogun State, and carted away electric cables estimated at Four Million Naira (N4,000,000.00), has been apprehended by the police.
Adekunle Rahman was in the process of carrying out another operation, this time, with one Adekunle Rahman, 28, when they ran into the snare of the state’s Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe).
In a statement issued by the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, AC Moruf Yusuf, the suspects were apprehended on 2 February 2024 at Irewunmi axis of Alade Community in Ijoko.
However, according to the statement, following the incident at the palace of HRM, Oba Adeyemi Adelekan Aladegbade II, the Olu of Araromi-Alade, a few weeks back, a report of which was made to the Corps, the state Commander gave a marching order to the Ado-Odo/Otta Zonal Commander of the Corps, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.
On his arrest and interrogation, the teenage burglar confessed to having partaken in the vandalism of the monarch’s palace with the fleeing Asumo, adding that he was given a paltry Seven Thousand Naira (N7,000.00) as his share of the N4 million loot.
Consequently, he initiated another operation with Abraham Johnson, a new partner, but were caught before they could carry out the operation.
The suspects have been transferred to the Sango-Otta Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
