Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, in the early hours of Monday 24th of October 2022, arrested four notorious armed robbery suspects, who specialised in snatching motorcycles from their owners at gunpoint.

The suspects, 20-years-old Muhammad Adamu, 22-years-old Okacha Alidu, 28-years-old Yusuf Mohammed and 20-years-old Muniru Sunmaila were arrested following a distress call received at Ajuwon Police Divisional Headquarters at about 3 a.m, that the suspects were operating and had attacked one Sunday Doile at the Onibudo area of Akute and snatched his Bajaj motorcycle on gunpoint.

Upon the receipt of the distress call, the DPO Ajuwon Division, SP Andrew Akinseye, mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums, who are about six in number, reportedly took to their heels in different directions. While one of them escaped with the snatched motorcycle, the others were hotly chased, and four of them were apprehended.

On interrogation, they confessed to being the syndicate responsible for various cases of motorcycle snatching in Ajuwon and its environs.
They also confessed that their mode of operation is to use a motorcycle belonging to one of them to block any motorcycle they intend to snatch, show their gun to the victim and order him to surrender his motorcycle.

According to them, any of their victims who struggle with them will be hit on the head with an iron rod, and the motorcycle will be taken away while the owner is unconscious. They reportedly claimed to have killed one of their victims in the process.

According to SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, recovered from them are; two locally made pistols, one iron rod, one cutlass, one live cartridge, three expended cartridges and assorted criminal charms.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation. He also directed that the escaped members of the gang must be hunted for wherever they might be.
