THE cases of cholera in Ogun State have risen to 19, according to the state Commissioner of Health Dr Tomi Coker.
This is coming less than a week after a 62-year-old woman died in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the state.
The woman died while caring for her infected child, who is among those hospitalised.
Dr Coker said that there were 19 cases recorded in the state.
She further clarified that the cases were found in five local governments – Sagamu, Ado-Odo/Ota, Remo North, Ijebu North and Odeda.
The Commissioner said the first cases visited Lagos State and had contact with infected persons.
She said vigorous sensitisation on safety measures such as constant hand washing with soap, proper sanitation and quick presentation of suspected cases to public health facilities to prevent both the spread and adverse consequences has been intensified.
