THE Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe) has smashed a gang of three suspected armed robbers, terrorizing some areas in Otta, Ogun State.
Their arrest was a result of a swift response to an emergency call made to the Iroko/Arije Divisional Headquarters of the Corps by members of the community, reporting the activities of the armed gang.
A statement issued by the office of the Corps Commander, Dr Ganzallo, through the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, AC Moruf Yusuf, disclosed that on Tuesday, 16 April 2024, the hoodlums invaded the community and were robbing the inhabitants of their valuables at gunpoint.
Ganzallo stated that upon receipt of the information, a marching order was given to the Ado-Odo/Otta Zonal Commander, AC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, to clamp down on the criminal suspects.
“The operation team of the Corps swung into action and successfully apprehended three out of the four suspected armed robbers”, the statement disclosed.
The Corps Commander listed the three apprehended suspects as Abayomi Michael David (aka Scofield), 37, a resident of 33, Unity Road, Abule Ijoko; Sam Oluwatobi, 24, residing at 24, Blessed Estate, Alayapupo Street, Off Oyero Road, Ijoko; and Oluwatosin Atilola (aka Tosine) 37, of 168, Nascon Road, Ijoko, Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing fourth suspect, Obani Desmond (aka Kokolet) who, Ganzallo said, was not new in the act, adding that, the apprehended suspects disclosed during interrogation that he was their ringleader.
Recovered from the suspects were a locally-made stainless cut-to-size pistol, two pieces of empty and one live red star cartridge and the gang’s operational motorcycle.
They suspects have been handed over to the Sango-Otta Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
