OPERATIVES of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan-Lagos have arrested three suspects in Ogun State for being in possession of two human hearts.
The all-male suspects, Moshood Najimdeen, Adebanjo Wasiu and Segun Asunni, have explained their respective roles in the criminal act.
In a statement issued by the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), SP. Ayuba Tunni Umma disclosed that Moshood was the first to be nabbed.
According to her, the suspect was arrested at his residence in the Oke-Ola area of Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State, where a search led to the discovery of the two suspected human hearts.
Moshood, during interrogation, disclosed that he was not alone in the ‘business’ and spilled the beans by naming the second suspect, Adebanjo Wasiu, whom he claimed to have offered the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00k) to source for the two human hearts.
“Adebanjo Wasiu, in turn, pointed to one Segun Asunni as the source of the hearts“, the statement disclosed.
According to the ZPPRO, “Investigation has commenced into the alleged offence, while the two suspected human hearts have been sent to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for thorough examination and confirmation, further findings will be communicated”.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ari Muhammed Ali, has called on residents of Ogun and Lagos states to remain vigilant and promptly report any form of unwholesome activities in their respective areas to the nearest Police formation within their locality.
He has equally echoed his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property of residents of the two states.
