BLESSING Okagbare has come out in defence of Nigeria’s star girl and the latest sports media sweetheart, Favour Ofili, accusing her traducers, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), of not being accountable and grossly incompetent.
The Nigerian 100m record holder, who was frequently at loggerhead with the AFN officials, calling them out on most occasions during her active years, took to the popular social media platform, “X”, to lend her voice on the unresolved issues between AFN and Favour Ofili.
Sharing on her “X” page, Okagbara wrote:“If and when you challenge an authority for negligence and incompetence, they tag you as indiscipline, arrogant, and disrespectful,” she wrote.
“None of them can even prove how you disrespected them directly. They’re always threatened by the truth. ‘NO ACCOUNTABILITY”.
Favour Ofili has not been in the good books of AFN officials. The no-love-lost relationship between the two entities came to a head as the name of the sprinter was omitted from the 100m women’s event at the recently held Paris Olympics.
Despite a promise by the Sports Minister, John Owan Enoh, to mete out punishment to anyone found culpable in a despicable act, nothing has been heard of it weeks after the completion of the Games.
