OPERATIVES of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and other travelers abducted by bandits along the Omi Alafa Road in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area on 18th July 2024.
Among those rescued were five individuals, including members of NYSC.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, in a statement on Monday, said the victims were abandoned by the bandits due to the relentless pressure applied by a police team led by a senior officer.
“The Command on the 22nd of July found victims of the Ose/Ifon area kidnap which occurred on 18th July, 2024. The victims were abandoned by their assailants after the police mounted pressure on the kidnappers,” the statement said.
Odunlami-Omisanya explained that the tactical squad, led by the Area Commander of Owo, ACP Olufemi Awoyale, conducted continuous operations, combing the bush with sustained technical support. This pressure forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims at Oyinbo/Sanusi Camp.
“The victims are currently being attended to at the Police Medical Services Owo, and will be handed over to their family members after being debriefed,” the statement added.
