THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved the much-expected National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting originally slated for 24 October 2024 to 28 November 2024.
A communique signed by Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, after an enlarged PDP Governors’ Forum meeting held at Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, informed the decision to move the meeting is due to the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections of 16 November 2024.
The meeting was PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly Leadership of the PDP Caucus and the Forum of Former Governors of the party.
According to the communique, the party took the decision to shift the date of the meeting to ensure that the party goes into the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections of 16 November 2024 with “the unity and strength demanded to unseat the floundering All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state.”
Reiterating the need for unity in the face of efforts by detractors to divide the party, the meeting called on all members to shun divisive utterances that could undermine ongoing efforts at strengthening the party to effectively play its role as the country’s main opposition, preparatory to taking over in 2027.
