ONE person was feared dead and several others were injured as a fire broke out at the Ogbomoso residence of former Oyo State governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
The incident was confirmed by a family source, who attributed the fire to a power surge that occurred between 7.30 am and 8 am today.
According to the source, “We experienced a power surge this morning, and it consumed one person. One person also sustained serious injuries.”

Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala served as governor of Oyo State in 2006, and again from 2007 to 2011. He was the candidate of the ADP in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.
He passed away in January 2022.
