SECURITY operatives have reportedly arrested four more persons involved in a bloody robbery in five banks in Otukpo, Benue State on Friday afternoon.

The armed robbers reportedly attacked the banks with the use of explosives and sophisticated weapons, raided and robbed selected commercial banks in Otukpo, the headquarters of Benue South Senatorial District in an operation that lasted about one hour.
The robbers before attacking the police station in the area, had raided some banks including First Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, Access Bank and Stanbic IBTC Bank and carted away unverified amounts of money.
Report says the Joint Security Forces arrested four of the suspects involved in the bloody robbery which left eight persons including Police DPO, John Adikwu, dead along Otukpo Taraku Road.
In a statement on Saturday, the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, explained that security operatives intercepted the robbers along Otukpo-Taraku Road and killed two of them.
She added that while other gang members abandoned their vehicles and escaped into the forest area, they were chased by the police.
Speaking further, she said, “The DPO who sustained a gunshot injury on his stomach and three other police officers have been confirmed dead at the hospital.
“Other persons who sustained injuries in the bank have been moved to the hospital for treatment. Investigation is ongoing at the moment,” she added.
