MEDIA Director (Southeast) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali, has advised aggrieved members of the party to shun campaigns of calumny, reckless media statements, and derogatory comments culpable of heating the polity and causing more disunity in the party.
Speaking during a church service in Enugu State at the weekend, Hon Nwali encouraged members to seek clarification on critical national leadership issues from the party rather than resorting to social media to cast aspersion and create undue pressure.
Specifically responding to the media outburst of Senator Dino Melaye, whom he described as a man who strongly believes in the principles of the party, Hon Nwali said, “No political party is without internal party issues, and the PDP is not an exception.”
He advised those seeking the resignation of the national chairman and other executive working committee members to seek legal redress rather than making statements inimical to the progress of the party.
“All relevant stakeholders should brainstorm on the way forward for our party; we should not be washing our dirty linens in public”.
He encouraged supporters of the party, youths, women, and children to keep faith with the PDP as it is the only credible opposition to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Hon. Nwali further called for tolerance, love, and unity of purpose to resolve the lingering political imbalance rather than sponsoring media goons to blackmail party executives at all levels.
He said: “PDP is the only party we have; we should unite to build a formidable force that will compete favourably with other political parties in the country.”
He assured Nigerians that the PDP would overcome its challenges and give the country the best democratic governance, even as he urged governors on the platform of the party to keep delivering on the mandate of the people in their respective states to strengthen the bond between the government and the governed.
“Governors elected on the platform of our party have been a beacon of hope in their states including Enugu, Oyo, Rivers, Adamawa, and others. It is obvious we represent the future Nigerians look forward to. We did it before, we can do it again.”
