ASSOCIATES of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 25th February 2023 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have dismissed as erroneous claims of a division in their ranks over the advice from Senator Ben Murray-Bruce not to appeal the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) that dismissed his (Atiku’s) petition against the election of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president.
Murray-Bruce in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) had urged the Adamawa State-born politician not to embark on an appeal of the judgment delivered on Wednesday 6th September by the five-member tribunal but to move on stressing that Tinubu was duly elected.
However, the admonition from Murray-Bruce has not gone down well with most of the associates of Atiku who are unanimous that the judgment of the PEPT was a miscarriage of justice. Insiders, who reviewed the judgment on Wednesday night, had various points of disagreement which they agreed should be appealed.
“There is no disagreement within our camp,” the source said on Thursday morning.
“What many people do not know is that Murray-Bruce left us once INEC announced their result. It was not as if he was very close but once the result was announced he congratulated Tinubu and we have not seen him since.
“Maybe it is because of his businesses in Lagos, but his statement does not reflect a division in our camp,” the source, a top associate of Atiku, said in rebuffing Murray-Bruce.
