DANIEL Bwala, a former spokesman for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has labelled the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, Mr Peter Obi, as an opportunist.
Responding to an image of Obi at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, Bwala said Obi was exploiting religion, ethnicity, natural calamities, and sports against Nigerians.
Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “Obi does not play opposition but opportunism. He takes advantage of the vulnerabilities of the nation and its people like a predator. He uses religion, ethnicity, natural disasters, and even sports. Until NFF supporters’ club members told him to “F” off.
“Peter Obi wants to govern Nigeria using catchphrases and buzzwords; consumption to production; China, Malaysia, Egypt, etc. What the “F” does he know about governance? Pretending he cares for the poor masses, go and ask how much he pays his staff in all his companies, and come back and explain to me the true meaning of modern-day slavery.”
Eighteen-Eleven Media recalls that Bwala, who was a strong ally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, came down hard on President Bola Tinubu when he was a member of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation.
However, of late he has been seen with President Tinubu, who was Atiku’s main rival in the 2023 polls.
Bwala had first visited the president at Aso Rock on 10 January 2023, and after that, he said he would be willing to work with the President in any capacity offered to him.
Reacting to the criticisms which trailed the visit to the Presidential Villa, he had said, “I informed Atiku Abubakar I was going to see the President. After I had seen the president, I informed him (Atiku) that I had just seen the president and he replied to me, ‘Thanks Daniel for notifying me’.”
Weeks later, Bwala visited Tinubu in France where the nation’s number one citizen went on a private visit.
