Peter Obi, Tinubu Supporters Plan Rival Rallies At Lekki Tollgate October 1st

Some supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, under the platform of a group called Tag Team, have planned to hold a mega rally at the Lekki Toll Plaza on October 1st, 2022.

However, some supporters of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have also planned to hold a mega rally at the same Lekki Toll Plaza at the same time as the Peter Obi supporters.

Eighteen-Eleven Media recalls that Lekki Toll Plaza became the rally point of the #EndSARS protest in October 2020. The protest culminated in the alleged death of some protesters at the plaza. They were reportedly shot by soldiers deployed to the plaza under unclear circumstances. This has however been denied by Army authority.

Our correspondent gathered that the brains behind the #EndSARS protest, who have mainly identified with the candidature of the LP standard-bearer, are of the view that holding the rally would further cement their position that their support for the former Anambra State governor was a movement

Supporters of the Tinubu camp however believe that the rally will further accentuate the dominance of the first Lagos State governor as the candidate to beat in next year’s presidential election.
