There was uproar earlier today in Enugu, Enugu State as the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and Senator Victor Umeh were booed out of a function in the state capital this afternoon.
An eyewitness said that a group of persons reportedly uncomfortable with the presence of the former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Chairman around Peter Obi became furious and decided to boo the duo out of the arena; save for the help of security operatives who guided the duo out of the venue, the story may have been unpalatable.
The group reportedly accused Victor Umeh of using APGA to fleece people of their hard-earned money when he was the National Chairman of APGA and now wants to use Peter Obi’s presidential bid to cover his alleged dirty tracks.
They declared Victor Umeh an enemy of the people who led APGA, an acclaimed Igbo party, to endorse and declare support for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 and defrauded hundreds of Igbo sons in the party.
The group warned that Peter Obi will not be allowed to conduct any campaign of calumny, deceit, betrayal or treachery against other Igbo sons and daughters in Enugu and with the presence of Victor Umeh who allegedly collected millions from the people in return for the APGA ticket only to defraud them and even betrayed Chief Chekwas Okorie in same APGA, in his team, the people will revolt against them.
The group described Peter Obi as a traitor for accepting to campaign with a character like Victor Umeh regardless of his many political and criminal baggage against the people of South-East and mostly Enugu.
The inside source equally confirmed that Senator Umeh did not leave the venue but promptly made his way back to Anambra State to avert untoward action from the irate youths.
