TWO police officers from the Lagos State Police Command are now in custody following an unauthorized operation that led to the death of a civilian.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Saturday, disclosed the detention of the officers who were part of the state task force. He however did not disclose the name or rank of the affected officers.
The officers, along with several civilians, had last Wednesday allegedly embarked on an illegal operation during which the group was attacked by motorcycle riders, resulting in the fatality of one civilian.
“Disciplinary actions have already begun for the detained officers, and efforts are underway to locate their civilian accomplices,” SP Hundeyin stated. “Investigations are ongoing to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act.”
