A police constable identified as Dogara Akolo-Moses attached to Mada Station Division of Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, has shot and killed himself.
The sad incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 in Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Constable Dogara Akolo-Moses was earlier seen that fateful day going about his normal duty. He was to later shoot himself in one of the offices within the divisional headquarter in Mada station, without leaving any suicide note.
A witness said the officer went into a private room and shot himself and the sound of the gun prompted all officers on duty to run to the scene and met the deceased lying in the pool of his blood.
“Colleagues of the deceased who were outside the apartment heard the gunshot, prompting them to rush inside, where they found the officer lying on the floor with his gun beside him”, he said.
The circumstances surrounding Officer Dogara’s tragic death are still unclear, and an investigation is currently underway.
Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident, said investigation was ongoing to determine the cause of the officer’s action.
