A joint patrol team led by the Anambra State Police Command has rescued a wounded member of the Anambra Vigilante Group at UGA Road during an attack.
The police, in a statement by its spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, said the joint patrol team responded swiftly to an attack on members of the vigilante at Umuchu extraction, which led to the rescue and rushing the victim to the hospital where he is currently responding to treatment.
According to the police, during the gun duel with the hoodlums who attacked the vigilante members, bullets were said to have hit the fuel tank of a Toyota van belonging to the Anambra Vigilante Group as it went up in flames and razed down.
Normalcy has since returned to the community as reinforcement by the state police command has taken over hot spots in the area.
Investigation into the remote cause of the attack has since begun, with the motive of arresting and bringing the perpetrators to book, the police authority stated.
