THE Nigeria Taekwondo Federation has announced the death of its President, Alhaji Abdullahi Saidu-Baba.
“His legacy and contributions to Taekwondo in Nigeria and the continent will forever remain in our minds”, a statement announcing his death read in part.
The statement says his remains has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites in his hometown of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. He is survived by his wife and children.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, in a statement, expressed shock at Saidu’s sudden demise, describing it as a big loss to the entire sports sector.
“Alhaji Saidu was an astute Sports administrator and a passionate sportsman who has contributed so much to the growth of Taekwondo in the country.
“It’s a sad day for our Sports, and Alhaji Abdullahi Saidu will be greatly missed by the Sports Commission and our hearts are with his family at this critical time,” he stated.
The DG described Saidu an exemplary administrator who showed leadership in the ways he piloted the affairs of the country’s taekwondo.
