SOME youths believed to be part of the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters have set a mansion belonging to a serving House of Representatives member, Nazifi Sani Gumel, representing Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/Gagarawa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly on fire.
A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) shows the youths perpetrating the heinous act.
The youths accused the Jigawa State-born lawmaker of neglecting their constituency after his election 14 months ago during the last general elections.
In a similar incident that occurred in Yobe State, another set of angry youths attacked a serving senator’s house for allegedly siphoning public funds meant for the development of his district.
Some Nigerian youths begun to attack properties owned by political leaders amid the ongoing nationwide protests against hardships and bad governance in the country. It will be recalled that some alleged protesters Thursday descended on the Audu Bako, Kano, Kano State office of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) where they looted and thereafter set ablaze the edifice. The riotous protesters were ostensibly ventilating their grievances regarding the harsh economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.The protesters looted many office equipment, including chairs, monitors, and others, before setting the building on fire.
