THE Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Engr. Jaji Olola Abdulganiyu has unveiled a plan to re-engage retired officers and personnel of the Service.
This announcement was made during the 2nd Seminar and Send Forth ceremony organised by the FFS Pearls (Female Fire Officers) for their members and the retired female officers (Super Pearls).
Speaking at the event, held on 27th November 2024, the Controller General emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure financial stability for retired officers while promoting their health and well-being. He highlighted the importance of leveraging the experience and expertise of retired officers to further enhance the Service’s efficiency.
The Controller General commended the FFS Pearls for organising the impactful seminar and send-forth event. He acknowledged the forum’s role in fostering unity, discipline, and efficiency among female officers. Encouraging all female personnel to continue excelling in their duties, he reiterated the Service’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance through promotions and other incentives. Additionally, he congratulated the Super Pearls and pledged unwavering support for the initiatives of the Female Wing of the Service.
In her remarks, the National Coordinator of the FFS Female Officers Wing, ACG Achi Ijeoma Okidi, praised the efforts of the female officers in promoting peaceful coexistence within the Service. She urged members to embrace additional skills and vocations to achieve economic stability, especially in challenging times.
Delivering the welcome address, DCF Ifeoma Sodolamu, the FCT Coordinator of FFS Pearls, noted that since the forum’s inception, 14 female officers have been honoured and sent forth. She emphasized the forum’s supportive role, including solidarity visits, attendance at members’ life events such as weddings and child dedications, and fostering a strong sense of community. DCF Sodolamu also commended the facilitators of the seminar for their insightful lectures on topics such as general health, human rights, and cyber security, while congratulating the retirees on their remarkable achievements.
The colourful event celebrated the dedication and service of the retired female officers, who have served gallantly in various capacities and retired in good health and sound mind. It was attended by senior officers of the Service, members of the FFS Pearls FCT Command, and well-wishers.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the President of the FFS Pearls, CSF Rosemary Akpaibor, who expressed her gratitude to the Controller General for his continuous support of the FFS Pearls initiatives. She also thanked all attendees for their contributions and participation in making the event a success.
