RIVERS United’s Paul Acquah emerged Man of the Match with his hat-trick to put Eguma’s side in control of CAF Confederations Cup (CAFCC) group B
By the time he opened the scoring in the 45+2′ minute, via a thumping header, Paul Acquah had already shown off his astute touch with a back-heel in the build-up to Nyima Nwagua’s effort toward the goal. It was Ukeme Williams who teed up Rivers United’s number 23 with a pinpoint cross from a well-taken free kick just before the break that allowed Acquah to head unerringly past Herve Lomboto without breaking stride.
Paul Acquah’s second goal was cuter and highly admirable in its execution. The Black Star of Ghanaian player, this time showcasing his deftness to slice in Emmanuel Ampiah’s cross. Mydo Nakouho Yallet reacted quickest to score for Motema Pembe after his initial header came off the post.
The hat trick was soon completed just before full-time when he slid into the left-hand corner for an open goal after a lapse from Chiamaka Madu.
Rivers United’s next game is a rescheduled NPFL matchday 8 tie at home against Rangers on Wednesday 15 March at 4 pm.
The Pride of Rivers will be back in CAFCC action at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on 19 March taking on Diables Noirs – who are currently third in group B
