OVER 100 youths suspected of involvement in internet fraud were arrested by military personnel from the 3 Battalion Nigerian Army Barracks in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The facility is said to be a cybercriminal training network school in the metropolis, where intending internet fraudsters are reportedly trained.
Sources, who do not want their names in print, said about 150 of them were arrested during the raids that took place early and late Saturday.
An insider also said, “The training facility was raided by soldiers in the early hours of Saturday. The soldiers acted on intelligence reports.
‘’The alleged owner of the facility, along with his accomplices, were also captured during the operation.
“Military authorities at the 3 Battalion Barracks have since handed over the suspects to the Police at Ekpan in Uvwie for prosecution.’’
When contacted for comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests but did not provide further details on how the suspects were apprehended.
