THE Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lagos State Council has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the three broadcasting stations as the warning strike enters day three.
While carrying out the exercise today, the NUJ Chairman, Mr Adeleye Ajayi, in company with the police officers, refuted the allegation of destroying any property of any of the three Lagos State government-owned broadcast stations.

The three media houses, LTV8, Radio Lagos/Eko FM and Lagos Traffic Radio had on Monday 13 January 2025 embarked on a three-day warning strike over alleged unpaid new minimum wage, and also asking the state government to include them in the state’s Oracle Database for salary payment.
However, the spot assessment was carried out sequel to allegations by the Lagos State Commissioner For Establishments and Training, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, that the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and NUJ destroyed studio doors and property of the state-owned broadcasting stations.
Ajayi said that the property was intact, noting that the position of the Commissioner is incorrect as they have moved around the three media houses (LTV, Radio Lagos/Eko FM and Lagos Traffic Radio.
He said, “As responsible unions, the NLC, NUJ and RATTAWU have equally documented all the evidence and we challenge those with contrary submission to bring forward their evidence.

“As you can see, this facility tour was simultaneously conducted by other union leaders, members and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who have been on ground in the last 72 hours.
“Deploying propaganda will not achieve any positive result. The Lagos State government should look into the plight of the striking workers with a view to addressing their demands.
“Our people are not asking for too much by asking to be migrated into the Oracle database. They deserve better working conditions like other workers in Lagos State”, Ajayi said.
