IN a bold move, Nigerian workers have cut off the water and electricity supply to the National Assembly complex, leaving the Senate and House of Representatives in darkness.
The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), blocked the entrance and exit gates of the complex with two buses, shutting down the National Assembly.
This comes as labour unions demand a minimum wage of N494,000, while the federal government refuses to budge from its offer of N60,000.
The strike has already seen widespread compliance, with courts, banks, government offices, public schools, and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) all shut down.
