LEICESTER City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of Finidi George as coach of the Super Eagles, this is even as he extended his appreciation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for selecting the Bayelsa State-born coach.
The midfielder conveyed his best wishes to Finidi and expressed optimism about the future during a statement made in Abuja.
The unveiling ceremony of Finidi George as the new coach of the senior national team took place at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja in the presence of prominent figures from the nation’s football governing bodies.
Praising Finidi’s coaching abilities, Ndidi emphasized that the former Enyimba gaffer impressed the team during the two friendly matches in Morocco against Ghana and Mali, where he managed the games single-handedly.
“Finidi is an amazing coach, we worked with him in our two friendly games in Morocco, and he impressed us with the way he executed the two games against Ghana and Mali without any assistant coaches, just him and his other officials.”
Ndidi emphasized the challenge of overseeing such games alone and commended Finidi’s humility and skills.
“It is not easy for one man to do all that. We are good to go with him, he is humble and amazing. I think I will say congratulations and see what happens in the future.”
Ndidi further said that he and his fellow players are concentrating on the upcoming qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup against South Africa and Benin Republic.
He emphasized the significance of these two matches and expressed determination to ensure that they do not lose.
Despite acknowledging the challenges ahead, he assured that they will strive to avoid any setbacks.
