A police patrol team attached to the Department of Operations (DOPS), Plateau State Headquarters, Jos, while on its way to Bokkos Local Government Area on 29th August 2024, encountered a roadblock mounted by suspected armed robbers.
Upon sighting the patrol vehicle, the hoodlums opened fire on the officers. Consequently, a gun battle ensued between the officers and the criminals, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the suspects while the others managed to escape into the forest.
The scene was later visited by the Divisional Police Officer, Bokkos Division, and the corpse was deposited at the Bokkos Public Morgue.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, has in the meantime, assured the good citizens of the state that the Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, and therefore urges them to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, as investigation into the matter is in top gear, with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
