DOZENS of protesters converged at Ikeja Under Bridge in Lagos on Monday as part of a nationwide demonstration organised by the Take It Back Movement and allied civil society groups.
The protesters rallied to voice concerns over pressing national issues, including the alleged abuse of the Cybercrime Act, deteriorating economic conditions, and what they described as an unconstitutional “state of emergency” in Rivers State.
Carrying placards with bold messages like “Any law that forbids us from speaking against oppression is slavery” and “When law becomes a tool of oppression, unite to repeal it,” the demonstrators demanded sweeping reforms and accountability from the government.
Take It Back Movement’s National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, had earlier called for the protest, citing the federal government’s rising authoritarian tendencies and failure to address inflation and insecurity.
