CAPTAIN of Team Nigeria at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games, Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori, has been thrown out of the badminton singles event in the first round.
27-year-old Opeyori, ranked 104 in the World, was shown the exit door by Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi in straight sets 22-20 and 21-14 earlier today at the Games.
Opeyori, a multiple African Champion, becomes the seventh member of Team Nigeria who could not go beyond the first round of his or her event in the French capital.
Two out of three boxers representing Nigeria are out while all four table tennis players led by Aruna Quadri were beaten in the first round of the singles competition.
