Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan defender, Chdera Ezeh, has said there will be no hiding place for the visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi when both sides clash on Saturday (today).
The two teams will lock horns at the Lekan Salami Stadium, in a matchday 23 fixture that can best be tagged ‘the battle of the Stars’.
Disconcerted with the team’s failure to win its last home tie against Gombe United, which was followed by a 1-2 loss away to Akwa United on the road, the former Rangers International player, declared total war on the Makurdi based side.
“We can’t afford anything less than a convincing win on Saturday because we don’t want a repeat of what happened during our last home game against Gombe United, where our fans left unhappily.
“We want to win this for our teeming supporters and fans to make them happy and also to make them believe in us”, said Chidera, who scored the team’s goal in Monday’s 1-2 loss to Akwa United.
The right-back, who joined the Oluyole Warriors from Gombe United during the mid-season transfer, felt excited to have scored his first goal for the team, which was his second of the season but was hugely disappointed the goal did not make any difference.
“Scoring for Shooting Stars made me happy but I was disappointed that the goal did not save us from defeat.
“Nevertheless, I am personally inspired to go for another goal come Saturday when we meet Lobi Stars, but ultimately, the main target for us as a team is the maximum points, which we will surely get”, he assured.
A statement by the team’s Media Officer, Tosin Omojola say the Oluyole Warriors are condemned to win the tie to return to winning ways and also improve their position on the log as anything short of this could be disastrous, which will not go down well with their backers.
Going into this game, Shooting Stars are placed 12th on the log with 27 points from 22 matches, four points better than the visitors who occupy the 17th spot with 23 points from the same number of matches.
Based on current statistics, the Edith Olumide Agoye tutored side should have little or no problem in sending the struggling Lobi Stars, under the tutelage of coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru back home empty-handed.
