FATHER of Timilehin Ajayi, the gospel singer arrested for allegedly killing a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Salome Adaidu, has pleaded for the release of his son.
Ajayi was found in possession of the severed head of Salome Adaidu, 24, in a polythene bag and has been remanded in a correctional facility on the orders of a Nasarawa State High Court.
The gruesome incident reportedly occurred in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, a community near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While the family of Salome continues to grieve, Ajayi’s father is pleading for his release. He made the plea during an interview wherein he said: “I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg so that he is released”, he said.
However, quite contrary to the position of the father, the mother of the suspected murderer said she had left everything for the government to handle.
“If it were one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” She asked rhetorically.
“So the government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands,” She concluded
Ajayi, who gained some recognition after releasing his album ‘God of the Earth’ in 2020, admitted to murdering and dismembering the body of the hapless Benue State-born youth corps member. He also claimed he took the action on discovering that the deceased was cheating on him. He said he has no regrets over his actions.
The family of the deceased however counter this position insisting they were never in any relationship.
According to the family, their daughter unfortunately boarded the wrong Keke NAPEP leading to her abduction and subsequent murder. They also said she was scheduled to be engaged to a pharmacist immediately upon completion of her NYSC programme.
