RIVERS State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu this evening met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The governor arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 5:35 p.m. and proceeded straight to the president’s office,
It is the first time the president will be meeting the governor since the peace meeting between his estranged political godfather and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike late last year.
The president is reportedly attending the meeting alone without Wike unlike during the peace meeting.
Although the agenda of his visit was not made public at the time of filing this report, it may not be unconnected with the political crisis between the governor and the FCT Minister over the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers State.
Earlier, Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, confirmed the resignation of Chidi Amadi, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Commissioner said Amadi resigned his appointment at about the time some cabinet members turned in their resignation letters in December 2023.
He did not state the reasons given by Amadi.
Amadi was until his appointment last year, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ohio/Akpor Local Government Area where the ex-governor Nyesom Wike comes from.
His resignation may not be unconnected with the political faceoff between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
