NIGERIA’S U-20 national male football team, the Flying Eagles, suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso in their opening Group B match of the WAFU B U20 AFCON in Lome, Togo.
The lone strike off the boot of Coulibaly Dramanethat aborted their first flight in Lome, the capital of Togo came in the 66th minute.
Burkina Faso will take on Cote d’Ivoire in their last group on Monday while the Flying Eagles must beat the Young Elephants of Cote on Thursday if they hope to stay in the competition beyond the group stage.
The ongoing championship in Togo is a qualifying tournament for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals.
The top two teams in the group will progress into the semi-final.
