“We’ll Ensure Justice’, NYSC Mourns Slain Kaduna Female Corps Member

THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) said it is working in collaboration with various security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of “this dastardly act and ensure that justice is served”. 

It will be recalled that a serving corps member identified as Grace Chalya Silas with registration number: KD/23A/4386, was on Wednesday morning brutally murdered by some yet-to-be-identified assailants suspected to be armed robbers in Kaduna State.

Details of the Incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report but it was gathered that the University of Jos graduate was killed and robbed while jogging on 18 October 2023. 

Her colleagues were reportedly alerted by a good Samaritan and the NYSC management was said to have rushed the deceased to Harmony Hospital Limited in Barnawa, Kaduna, for prompt medical attention, but unfortunately, she passed on.

However, reacting to the development, the NYSC management in a statement signed by Eddy Megwa, Director, Press and Public Relations, the NYSC enjoined members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies in ensuring that all corps members who are deployed to contribute their quota to national development by serving in their communities are adequately protected.

“Corps members are our children, our sisters and brothers and they must be protected by all Nigerians,” the statement added.
