A woman identified as Aisha Abubakar has been arrested in Katsina State after she was found in possession of a cache of bullets aboard a state government-owned mass transit bus at the weekend.

The woman who later identified herself as Aisha claimed to have embarked on the repressible venture of serving as a courier, apparently for bandits, as a result of hunger.

In a video circulating online, Aisha denied any prior involvement with such activities. “I have never done this before,” she pleaded, adding that, “hunger pushed me into this.”

Speaking in the Hausa language to her interrogators, Aisha denied any prior involvement with such activities. “I have never done this before,” she pleaded, adding that, “hunger pushed me into this.”

She claimed that a stranger had entrusted her with the ammunition, claiming complete ignorance of the man’s identity or whereabouts. “I don’t know what it is,” she claimed. “It was given to me by a man, I don’t know him, his name or where he lives.”

When pressed about the intended destination of the bullets, Aisha claimed that she was instructed to leave them “at the stream along Hanyin Dantumaki in Katsina (State)” for someone else to pick up the parcel.

As of the time of this report, Katsina State Police Command was yet to issue a statement regarding the arrest and the discovery.
