A Federal High Court in Abuja today affirmed Alhaji Yusuf Asamah Kadiri (SAN) as the deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial election scheduled for 21 September 2024.
The court declared that the nomination process for Alhaji Kadiri not only met but “over-complied” with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, as well as the constitutional guidelines of the Labour Party.
The court then directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly accept, process, and publish Alhaji Kadiri’s name in the electoral umpire’s official list of candidates, for the forthcoming election.
Reacting to the development, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the state, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata said: “We are grateful for the strength and integrity of the judiciary, as well as the belief and unwavering support of the good people of Edo State – which remains pivotal to our campaign.
“I celebrate this victory with an even stronger resolve to serve our people, firmly focused on effecting transformational change in Edo State.
“Victory remains within our grasp, and with your continued support, resounding success is assured at the polls, come 21st September 2024.
