2 Die In Early Morning Road Accident In Lagos

Multiple crashes involving 4 vehicles occurred at Odo Itlya Alaro located on the bridge linking Maryland and Ojota, Ikorodu Road, Lagos resulting in two fatalities.

The incident occurred at about 0215hours this morning.

A commercial bus coming from Mile 12 area of the state conveying six women after the early morning purchase of wares, two were said to have lost their lives instantly. One of the dead was taken to a morgue by SHEMU while the second body, simply identified as Blessing, had her family members on the ground to take the body away. Aside from the two fatalities, several other persons reportedly sustained bodily injuries.

Eighteen-Eleven Media correspondent reports the incident involved an empty tanker with registration number FKJ-506XM, an articulated flatbed truck laden with metal coils, a grey coloured Toyota Camry with registration number ABC-261AJ (Abuja), a tipper with registration number T-12015LA laden with 30tons sharp sand and two commercial busses (danfo). 

The only occupant of the Toyota Camry was said to have escaped unhurt, as the tipper/lorry reportedly hit the Toyota Camry from the rear spilling its content on the Camry.

It was further gathered that the tipper/truck lost control while at high speed and ran into the vehicles, thereby resulting in multiple accidents. Unfortunately, two adults were confirmed dead at the scene. 

One of the victims was handed over to SEHMU at the scene while the other was taken by her immediate family. 

Several persons were also injured and taken to nearby hospitals by personnel of FRSC, LASAMBUS, LASEMA, NEMA, LASTMA, and officials of the Nigeria Police Force.
