Emmanuel Okorafor, 26, was on Thursday arrested in the Ojota area of Lagos State for defrauding a number of Point of Sale (POS) operators.

He was caught in an ATM fraud. He confessed he started it three weeks ago.

According to Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Okorafor has been defrauding POS operators of various sums of money. His modus operandi, the Lagos State special squad explains is such that he normally gives the operators a figure in seven digits, which the operator would enter into his/her POS machine (₦52,000:00). Once the machine is handed to him to enter his PIN, he would cleverly delete two zeros (₦5,200:00) before returning it to the operators.

With this, the operators pay him ₦52, 000:00 while he is debited ₦5, 200:00.

In his confession, he claimed to have same fraud in five POS points Thursday around Ogudu GRA and Ojota before he was arrested in the evening.

As of Thursday, three POS operators said he played the same trick on them. His ATM reportedly matched that used in defrauding the victims, police allege.

“Some of them said they have accused and sacked many of their attendants for stealing their money.

“Investigations revealed that the ATM was used to collect various sums of money ranging from N52,000 to N5500 in many POS points”.
