Two-goal hero in Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan’s 3-0 win over Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Emmanuel Lucky, believes opening his goal account for the Oluyole Warriors has eased the pressure on him.
Lucky, one of the Shooting Stars’ mid-season signings, emerged the star of the matchday 23 encounter, scoring twice in the first half to set the team on the path to victory.
The light-skinned striker, while speaking with Shooting Stars Media Officer, Tosin Omojola after the tie, expressed happiness over his feat and more importantly for his team’s victory.
“It is a wonderful atmosphere, scoring my first goal for a team like Shooting Stars and scoring my first NPFL goal. I feel so delighted that I finally scored, having missed the opportunities to do so in previous matches”, a statement by the team media office quotes him as saying.
Lucky attributed his failure to convert begging chances against Gombe United in his first outing for the Ibadan soccer lords on home soil to nervousness and the pressure to make a statement,
“I will say I was under pressure during my first game here (Lekan Salami Stadium), because of the way I was received and the reaction of the fans.
“The coaches later talked to me and boosted my confidence, telling me what to do and with the wonderful result we had against Lobi Stars, I will say there is no more pressure”, added the skilful striker.
Having eventually found the back of the net, Lucky expressed optimism that the goals will keep coming, setting a personal target of emerging one of the top scorers for the Oluyole Warriors at the end of the season.
He expressed appreciation to the Shooting Stars supporters and fans, saying. “I want to thank them for their patience with the team, promising that with last Saturday’s victory over Lobi Stars, things will turn around positively for the team.
