45-Yr-Old Man Sentenced To Double Life Imprisonment For Raping Neighbours’ Children

A Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja earlier today sentenced a 45-year-old man, Paul Ndedigwe to double life imprisonment for defiling his neighbour’s children, ages six and seven.
Justice Abiola Soladoye, in her judgment, held that the prosecution had proved two of the three count charges bordering on defilement beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Soladoye, however, discharged and acquitted him of count three which was also a defilement charge because the alleged survivor failed to show up in court to give evidence.
She described Ndedigwe as a rough, irresponsible and destiny-destroyer of the two survivors.
According to her, the convict who was the neighbour of the complainant, had unlawful sexual intercourse with the two survivors at the same time and in the presence of each other.
She said: “When the survivors began to cry, he turned up the volume of the television.
“The evidence of the respective prosecution witnesses was corroborated, truthful and unshaken.
“The defendant is hereby found guilty of count one and sentenced to life imprisonment.
“He is also found guilty of count two and sentenced to life imprisonment.”
The judge held that the sentencing would run concurrently and the convict’s name be registered in the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.
The state counsel, Mrs Olufunke Adegoke presented three witnesses during trial while the convict testified as a sole witness.
Adegoke submitted that the convict committed the offence on 19 November 2021 on Ifelodun Street, Amukoko, Lagos.
According to her, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
