A 52-year-old suspected kidnapper, linked to the kidnapping of two Reverend fathers in Panshin town, Plateau State, who later escaped to Ogun State, has been apprehended.
The suspect, Christopher Yaro, was said to be hibernating with his cousin at Ago-Iwoye town, an intelligence the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received on 2 February 2024 and informed the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Mustapha Alamutu.
Parading Christopher alongside other criminal suspects at the Command headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, 15 February, the CP stated that his arrest was a testament to the Command’s “more determined drive to press home the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s principle of borderless approach to fighting crime”.
The suspect has, however, confessed to committing the crime, and gave reasons he had to escape to Ogun State.
“Further details would not be released for now, to prevent jeopardizing investigation”, the CP said, stating that the Plateau State Command had been contacted and confirmed that the suspect is on the Command’s wanted list”.
Alamutu stated that the suspect would be handed over to Plateau State Command for further discreet investigation and prosecution.
