Abuja DisCo Staffer, Five Others Arrested For Stealing Transformer
OPERATIVES of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested six suspects, including a staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), for vandalizing and stealing a transformer.
The suspects namely Kabiru Muhammed, Aliyu Usman, Abdulmalik Alhasassan, Shafi’u Suleiman, Suleiman Ibrahim, and Raymond Mailabari, who is a staff member AEDC, all males of Tipper Garage, Mpape, Abuja.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were trying to escape with an already vandalized transformer they had loaded on a crane truck in Maitama when Police operatives swooped in and apprehended them.
The vandalized transformer, a crane truck, and a blue-colored Mercedes Benz with Reg No. PKN 497 XA, a white-coloured J5 bus with Reg No. RBC 228 XC, and an ash-colored Peugeot 406 car with Reg No. GSN 13 AA belonging to the AEDC staff were all recovered.
The Command revealed that while the investigation is still ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, Benneth Igweh, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the territory.
He also urged residents to be vigilant and take advantage of the police emergency lines to report suspicious activities.
