SOUTH AFRICA forward, Percy Tau has revealed that goalkeeper and captain, Ronwen Williams failed to save any penalty during the game against Nigeria because it was not just his day. Williams was the hero for Bafana Bafana in their shootout win against Cape Verde in the quarterfinals.

However, he was unable to save any of the spot kicks he faced during the semifinal clash with Nigeria.

Jose Peseiro’s men beat South Africa 4 -2 in the shootout to progress to the final where they Sunday night lost to Ivory Coast.

“He tried his best to save some of the penalties but sometimes it happens that it’s not your day.

“He saved us the last time and we’re still happy with him. Congratulations to Nigeria,” Tau told reporters at the free zone after the game.

Tau, who scored in his first appearance against the Super Eagles back in 2017, has now lost two matches in a row against Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
